When I was growing up my mom had two sayings about grooming.
"Even an old barn needs paint" and "A Little Powder and Paint To Make Ya What Ya Aint"
Yes it is true I bought in to those theories.....mostly cause in my case it is true. But the interesting thing about it has been my three granddaughters. All three are cute as could be and beautiful. They are neither an old barn or in need of a little powder or paint. Their moms are beautiful as well and don't wear much makeup if any at all. On different occasions the granddaughters have watched me put on my makeup and wanted to share. I tell them all they are so beautiful they don't need it but then I pretend to apply it and they are very satisfied. They have such a watchful eye on how it is done. I have now observed them all opening my makeup bag on their own and applying it just the way they saw grandma do it. It is very funny to watch them. And the best (or the saddest) part is I know they are doing it exactly like me down to the crazy faces and the swirl and tap of the brushes. With luck, when they are old they will think back of me and my little makeup bag and they will remember how fun it was to play with the old ladies makeup. They won't need any powder and paint because for them the theory will be "ya can't improve on perfection.". As for me even an old barn needs paint and as I apply the paint each day, I will fondly remember each of them playing with it.
