Another Vacation Comes To An End

 Can’t believe how fast the week has gone by.  It seems like it was just yesterday we were getting ready to come and now we are getting ready to go home.

I had my last spa appointment today.  I went for a chocolate body wrap.  It was terrific. I was glad to be at the spa as the weather was rainy all day.  It rained so hard at one point it left puddles so big it looked like  the hotel had little ponds.  It was really windy as well.  The loungers were really too wet to be on so we found some chairs on a covered patio and we sat there for a couple hours.  

We lucked out and walked to dinner without getting wet.  Art was excited to go to the Mexican restaurant to get the spareribs.  He got them a few nights ago and loved them.  They were much better a few nights ago.  I wan’t sure what to get and so I decided on the chicken.  The waiter said it wasn’t spicy hot and foolishly I believed him.  It was very spicy hot. My lips and mouth are still burning.  

After dinner, we returned to the room and got all packed so we will be ready in the morning,  We never heard from the airline that our flight has been canceled so we are good to go.   We are watching the Pack play while getting ready for bed.  We need to get a good nights rest. Tomorrow is going to be a long day. 

Pool Day

 Did someone say ‘pool day” oh I guess that was me.  And yes we spent the day at the pool.  We decided to go to the order off the menu restaurant instead of the buffet for breakfast.  Art’s breakfast could not have been any better. It was cook to perfection for him.  What a great way to start the day.  

We left breakfast and found a great spot to lounge by the pool. It was really close to our room which was really nice when we needed to use the bathroom 😉.  I even got to tune in and watch church while sitting by the beach.  Art and I got in the pool.  It was the first time since we have been here to get in. I will say it was chilly but fun nonetheless.  

We had lunch at our hotel, then went to see our friends at their hotel.  We went to watch our friend on the flow rider.   My goodness he is really good.  Tonight we had a final dinner with our friends.  They go home tomorrow.   One of our friends birthday is this week so we celebrated her birthday tonight.  Now back to our room for a good nights rest.  I have my last spa service tomorrow. 

Today

 Today’s weather was a mix.  We had bright beautiful skies and we had light showers.  Tonight was super muggy.  

This morning’s breakfast was  not the greatest.  Poor Art’s eggs were over cooked and the bacon was so brittle just looking at it made it fall apart.  While we were eating the lady next to me said “excuse me I just have to say I love your hair.  You’re probably wondering why I am staring at you but it is because I can’t take my eyes off your hair”   Nope…I didn’t wonder,  I didn’t even know she was looking at me. She was a sweet lady.  

Today I had a hot stone massage and a scalp treatment.  I have had a lot of hot stone massages.  I would say more than 25 and every once in a while, I have one that makes me say “HUH, that was interesting”  That was today’s.  It was good but it was really different. One I will remember.   I am not sure what the scalp treatment was.  She tapped my head and pulled my hair a lot.  She put something in my hair and told me not to wash it for a couple days.  I am not sure I can do that but I’ll try. I met a cute couple on the ride to the spa.   They shared a lot of their history.  They got married during covid and were supposed to honeymoon in Italy but Italy shut down just before they were set to go. I am not sure what the whole d deal was but they weren’t able to get refunded for both of them and they never got a honeymoon.  They are finally taking a trip and they decided to come here……….  With their three kids.  I hope they have the best week ever.  

While I was at the spa Art went and spent time with our friends.  Our friend is an avid flow rider,  So Art went and watch him.

After I got back we went to the beach and spent the rest of the afternoon.  Then had a lovely dinner with our friends at their hotel.  

Time to hit the sheets and get some rest.

Hooray for a Sunny Day

 Hooray Hooray the sun was out all day.  Hopefully the wind is all done.  It was a beautiful day today.  After breakfast Art and I went to the beach.  We were the only ones on the beach for a long time.  I am not sure what is wrong with the beach….no one seems to want to leave the pools and be at the beach.  It is pretty easy to get a lounger.

We had spa appointments today.  Art had a back massage. When I asked him how it was he said and I quote “it was good but massages just aren’t my thang”.  It is however my thang.  I had a back massage which was great and then I had a collagen facial.  It was really refreshing.  The lady who did my facial said it will be cold,,,,,,she wasn’t kidding…… I have had ice cubes warmer than that stuff.  Whoosh!  She said it would be refreshing.  I had it three times.  Nope I didn’t get used to it. To was cold the first round and stayed that way.  But when it was all said and done, it was refreshing and I would totally do I it again.  After that I went for a mani/pedi.  I started out with a nice lady who was sick and ended up having to get someone else to finish for her.  I feel bad for her but I ended up with the greatest young man.  He was super fun and did a great job. I have a couple more appointments scheduled for tomorrow.  Can’t wait. 

We went to the Japanese steakhouse with our friends for dinner.  It was really fun.  We have so enjoyed our time with them. When we got back to our hotel we stopped to watch the last ten minutes of the show.  It was a magic act.  It was pretty good.  Wish we could have seen the whole thing.

There are several Hindu weddings going on the last couple days.  One of the weddings is just outside our room. We were hoping it wouldn’t be too loud  really late and at ten o’clock they turned off the music.  They are eating dinner right now and it is pretty quiet.

Something I failed to mention a couple days ago but we have been laughing about,  It is probably one of those things you had to be there to appreciate but……..

Art has a night light that he brings along when we travel.  He plugs it in in the bathroom so if we have to get up on the night, we can see. Sadly when he plugged it in, it didn’t  work so we have been without.  In our room in the walk way is a a big pilar.  I always worry one of us is going to stub or worse kick it and break a toe.  Especially in the night.  The other night I got up and it was so dark I had to use the flashlight on my phone.  Not long after I got back in bed, Art had to get up.  I don’t want him stumbling around and kicking the pilar in the dark so I  just turn my flashlight on so when he came back into the room he could see.  I am not sure what possessed him but as soon as he got in front of the bed, he flipped his hands up to jazz hands and start dancing his way to bed.  What the heck?!?!?!  I could hardly stop laughing,  We are still laughing about it.  It was so out of character and so funny.  

Road Trip

 We got up early….well early for me and went to the buffet for breakfast.  I enjoy the buffet. Mostly I enjoy getting my omelet, fruit and the most important chocolate covered donut.  Art always gets his three eggs over easy.  We are pretty predictable.

After breakfast we met up with our friends for a trip to Playacar.  Art and I went to the presentation so that we could get a private ride to Playcar.  We invited our friends to go with us.  We had a great drive.  We were dropped off at the hotel there.  We checked out the hotel then we walked to one of the markets. It was really humid but it didn’t rain on us.   We had a late lunch at the hotel and then back to our hotel.  It was a great day.  Art told our friends a story about my dad and they laughed so hard one of them had tears from laughing.  We were tired from so much walking so we sat on our little deck when we got back to rest up.   It was nice until the rains came.  When it rains it dumps buckets.  Fortunately, it stopped by the time we went to dinner.  

We had a lovely dinner then tucked ourselves in for the night.  We started watching the football game but we are so tired from the day, I don’t think we’ll be able to finish it. 

Tomorrow we get to go to the spa……..woohooo! 

  

Today Went By In a Blink]

Today went by in a blink.  Of coarse I did sleep in so that does shortened the day.  We got a call this morning from our guy who made arrangements for us to go to Playa and he asked to come see him before breakfast.  We agreed but when we arrived he was with another couple so we went to breakfast. When we went back, he told us they are no longer doing the presentation at the Playa resort.  It was fine we can still go to Playa but we had to do the presentation here.  No problem…… we attended our last presentation.  They actually made us a great offer for updating our membership.   We had already decided we aren’t going to be coming back after January.  We really want to start going to other places.  It was a little bitter sweet turning down the offer.  

We were able to sit on the beach for about an hour before we had to be at the presentation.  The ocean is really muddy from all the rain.  It definitely isn’t the beautiful Caribbean blue green that it normally is.  

We met our friends for dinner.  We had a great meal with great friends.

We stopped for a nightcap and now are back at the room to relax before bed.  Luckily it only rained a little late this afternoon. 

Back To Paradise

 Well we returned a very wet paradise and the forecast is more of the same.  So hopefully we will find some sun in between the rain storms.

We got up early early early.  4:00 am to be exact.  Our sweet MK came and picked us up.  Thanks so much to her.    She dropped us off for our fun adventure.  The airport was a happening place.  Who knew so many folks get up that early.  The regular line had less folks than the precheck line.  It was tempting to go through the regular line.  But we didn’t.  We didn’t have to sit too long before we got to board the plane.  The flight to Dallas was great.  

We landed in the B terminal and our outgoing gate was in the A terminal so we hopped on the skylink train and when we arrived we found out there was a gate change …of coarse …..it was moved to the A terminal.  Back on the skyline we went.  The nice thing is, you don’t have to wait a long time for the skylink.  It is pretty efficient.  We had enough time to go to the Admirals Club for a quick drink and cookie/brownie.  When we got to the gate they were boarding so we got right on the plane.  The flight was great.  The pilot asked the flight attendants to pack things up early and take a seat as there was supposed to a lot of turbulence flying into Cancun.  But there was no turbulence.  It was as smooth as smooth could be.  I am not a big fan of airplane food.  The breakfast was pretty typical airline food but the lunch was really good.  I ate most of it as it was so good.  

The gate we landed at was the very last spot at the very end of the terminal.  As a result we had a very very very very very long walk to get to customs.   Customs was a breeze.  We never had to stand in line, we sailed right through. My bag was the very first one off the plane.  That never happens.  I was so excited.  Poor Art……his was the last one off the plane.    When we walked out of the airport, it was raining.  Not the  nice warm weather we usually get but it is still great.  

We have a nice room on the first floor right by the pool.  It will be great. Our friends from home are also here.  We got together for dessert and had a great visit.  We’ll see them again tomorrow.  Art and I stopped at the open lounge so he could have a night cap and now we are tucked in ready for a good nights rest.  Excited to see what fun tomorrow brings.

What a Blast This Week Has Been

 Thank heavens it warmed back up a little.  It wasn’t nearly as chilly as it was yesterday.  I wasn't sure though when we first got up,  it was pretty cloudy….. just like yesterday.  But the clouds blew away and it turned out ok.  The weather was never hot this week but it was warm.

After breakfast , Art rested on the lounger by the pool.  Caesar reserved our spot again today.  Trixie,  the Ol Coonster and I got in an uber and went back to town.  We found some left over Christmas decorations that the town still had left up so we took pictures of the ol Coonster.  We found out 4 cruise ships had come in to port and there was people everywhere .  There were no bargains to be had  that’s for sure.  We did find one store that was running some promotions.  

After town, we had some lunch at the pool.  Then Trixie and I got in the pool for a little while.  My goodness it was so cold when we got out.  

We went back to one of our favorite restaurants for our last dinner.  Not only was it delicious, the service was great!  We had a special dessert for Trixie and the ol Coonster‘s anniversary and the waiter gave Trixie and I a rose.  It was soooo sweet.  

We stopped by the jewelry store and Trixie got a really pretty emerald ring and matching necklace.  It will  be stunning on her.

We visited a little while then got packed up.  To bed now as tomorrow will be a really long day with traveling. The week just flew by.  They say time flys when you’re having fun and I had an absolute blast this week!

Chilly Day

This morning started off with a therapeutic massage and eye lift treatment for Trixie and I.  It was 2 hours of pleasure.  Talk about a great way to start the day off right.  

Art is feeling better but not 100%.  He was able to go to breakfast with the ol Coonster and sit for a while at the pool,….well snooze at the pool.  He even managed to go to lunch with us all.  Trixie and I were done in time for lunch.  

As promised our pool guy Caesar reserved our loungers for us.  The weather was on the chillier side today.  It was definitely too cool to get in the pool.  Not long after lunch Art gave it up and went back to the room to rest.  A  little while after that Trixie and the Ol Coonster went to their room. Shortly after that, there was a mass exodus.  Hardly anyone was still at the pool.  I stayed til late afternoon but on my way back to the room, I stopped by the sweet shop.  

After dinner, we all went back to our room and visited a little and now we are tucked in to bed.  Hope tomorrow is warmer. And Art feels better.

 

Sadly Art got sick in the night.  Seems like every time he eats any kind of fish, he gets sick. He ate fish and chips and lobster bisque.  Poor guy!  I feel so bad for him.  He missed out on so much fun today. He spent it all in the room…… next to the bathroom  

The weather today was absolutely stellar!  The Ol Coonster, Trixie and I all went for breakfast.  We did the restaurant instead of the buffet. Poor Trixie ordered some toast (gluten free).  It looked lightly toasted on the outside but the inside was completely frozen.  She sent it back and the manager brought her another piece and apologized.  But you know gluten free bread isn’t the most tasty.  It was edible.  She had some crumbs from it on the table and brushed them on to the floor.  As soon as the crumbs hit the floor, a little bird swooped down and put a piece of crumb in his mouth, then immediately spit it out and hopped over to me just a squawking.  I looked at it and said “I know gluten bread isn’t any  good”.   We got to see a mama whale and her baby swim by.  That was really cool.  We also aw some dolphins throughout the day. 

After breakfast, we went to the same loungers we had  yesterday.  We were among the very few people at the pool.  In fact, we got in the pool and we were the only ones,  It was great! The service at the pool was awesome.   We got in the pool a couple times but only this morning were we the only ones.  The pool water is so nice and warm.  This afternoon Trixie and I tried out the hot tub.  When we first got in there were only a couple of folks in there but it soon filled up so we didn’t stay in very long.  

One of the pool guys here is just so much fun.  If you have watched the show Acapulco you will understand if I tell you this guy is Hector.  We just love him.   We found out from visiting with him today he lived in Boise, Couer d’Alene, and, Sandpoint  What a small world!  A lot of folks arrived today and they are expecting  more tomorrow.  The hotel should be pretty full.  Our pool guys said he would reserve our loungers for us the next few days.  That will be so great.

Poor Art is so sick so I went in search of crackers for him.  I had no luck but on my adventures I met a lot of new friends.  The elevators are really an adventure here.  You meet some of the funnest people.  I was invited to karaoke but more than one person.  I am not a karaoke person but I enjoyed getting invited.  One of the workers helping me find crackers told me he thought I was gorgeous, asked me if my hair was real and waved his hands in front of me telling me he loved all it.  Made me laugh!

Before dinner, we went to one of the loungers to watch the game…… pitiful.  You guessed it our team lost.  Some of the folks we met in the elevator were at the restaurant we had dinner.  The woman jokingly asked if we were stalking her and we were joking with them when we heard a deep male voice chiming in and realized that one of the men at a table behind us had been in the elevator too……. I am telling you the elevators are so adventurous. We had a lovely dinner until I realized, my meal had raw shrimp in it.  I sure hope I don’t follow Art in the sick bed from it.  Oh I really hope!

Tomorrow Trixie and I are scheduled for a spa appointment….. I can’t wait! 

   

Great Day

 Today was a great day! It started with  a great breakfast.  We went back to the buffet.We decided to get loungers up at the pool instead of the beach.  Trixie and I had a spa appointment.  We had fruit facials.  I have had a lot of facials and I would say today’s was in the top 3 best.  It was really great.

After our appointment, we all went to lunch.  It was so yummy.  It was at the same place we had breakfast.  We all loved our lunch.  After lunch, we got in the pool.  The pool is heated and it was so nice. Poor Trixie went to sit on a stool at the swim up bar but decided last second not to sit there and in all the motion she lost her footing and went down.  We all got a good laugh and fortunately she didn’t get hurt. 

We made it three meals in a row at the same restaurant …. Yep …. We went to the restaurant we had breakfast and lunch.  The waiter tried hard but service was pretty slow.  The food was good but not as good as the other meals.   After we went to the fire tables to listen to an other violinists.  The music was good but the people watching was even better.  

Now we are tucked in bed ready to do it again tomorrow.

The Service Today is Awesome

 We could not have asked for a better day today.  We had a lovely breakfast at one of the sit down restaurants.  Yes we sit down at every restaurant but this was not a buffet.  It was delicious and the service was a great! We got loungers on the beach.  We had great service down there. The staff was very attentive and friendly.  The weather was beautiful.  The temperature was only 71 but it felt like 81.

Trixie and I went for mani/pedi and back massages. The girl who did my mani/pedi rushed through mine.  I am not sure she felt good.  She kept sneezing and sniffing.  The guy Trixie had was awesome.  We laughed when we walked out, we caught a couple of the workers hugging.  When they saw us they parted ways so fast you would have thought we caught them doing something really bad……and Trixie said AAHHH, we saw that.  They were so embarrassed.  We all made a bunch of jokes had a good laugh. 

Everyone here,  guest and workers, all think the Ol Coonster is Santa.  It is so cute!  He needs to start carrying candy canes with him to hand out.  

Our waiter at dinner was so sweet and our service was awesome!  I asked him for a ginger ale with a splash of cranberry juice. This is my usual drink.  Art asked him what he gave me because it was one of the best drinks I have ever had….and it wasn’t my usual drink.  Instead of cranberry juice, the bartender used cherry juice.  Oh it was soooo good.  He even gave me one to take with me.   We left the restaurant and went  to the sweet shop.  We sat at the sweet shop and visited for awhile then back to the room for bed.

 I would say the service all day was just incredible.  

Several years ago Art got me a pair of goofy sunglasses.  The last trip we took together, we all tried on the glasses to see who wore them best.  We recreated it this year.  I think the ol Coonster wins it this time.  What do you think?

Shopping

We got to sleep in this morning.  It felt so good.  We all met for breakfast.  We had the buffet.  After breakfast we got an Uber and went in to town. We did some shopping.  There we found out there is a Coppell’s here.  We were told it was about a 10 minute walk so we decided to do it.  They didn’t say it was mostly up hill.  Yikes!  But we did it.

We did stop at a farmacia and Trixie inquired about a certain drug.  The lady excitedly said she did have it.  She then went through a door that I assumed was a backroom with shelves and medication on them.  Trixie was close to the door and asked me to stand behind her which I did.  by doing so, I  had a clear shot through the door.  To my absolute horror, the woman was standing on the sides of an open toilet.  Yes….. I said toilet.  She was balancing her feet on the sides while she was pawing through bins looking for the drugs.  She found several different kinds and proudly brought them all out.  Just to be clear Trixie did not purchase any of those drugs.  As horrifying as it was…. We got a good laugh.

We went back to the hotel for lunch and made spa appointments.  After dinner we went back to fire tables and listened to a couple of violinists.  Some of us (ok it was me) had trouble staying awake so we headed back to our rooms early.  

Now to bed………… 

New Adventure

 It is harder and harder to get up so danged early but we managed it.  We left early yesterday morning for our fun fun fun adventure.  We flew to Portland and met up with Trixie and the ol Coonster.  I will say the flight was great.  Art said it was the best flight he had ever been on.  To say it was a smooth ride was an understatement.  The take off and landing could not have been any better.  My sinuses always plug when I fly that direction but not this time,  I got some awesome new airphones for Christmas and they were truly awesome! 

We had a  lovely breakfast with Trixie and the ol’ Coonster..  Then off we went.  We actually arrived a a decent hour in the afternoon.  The hotel is lovely.  After checking in we met for chips, guacamole, and shrimp cocktail.  Then after a quick drink at the lounge, we went for a a delicious dinner.  We sat and visited at the outdoor fire tables. Then off to bed.  I could hardly keep my eyes open….. Bed was so comfy.   We’re off for some fun adventures today……. Stay tuned.
