What Day Is Today

What Day Is Today. Huh? Huh?  What Day Is Today? Camel day.  We went on the camel tour today.
This morning we hung out at the pool until about 10:15.  Then we got ready to go. I was really surprised, we were the only ones in the van to go.  We got to the terminal and had an hour to wait.  They had three parrots so we had our picture taken with them.  Then we headed out on a big bus. We drove to a remote location and got in a big hummer type vehicle and drove to another remote location.  We got out and did a hike along a canyon ridge learning about cactus.  Then we loaded back into the hummer type vehicle and drove to a beach on the pacific side.  There we got on camels.  Our camel's name was Slim.  He was sweet.  We rode on the beach.  We had our picture taken with Powder, the youngest camel.  He was so sweet and gave us a kiss.   After that we had authentic Mexican food and tequila shots.  Art and I refrained from the shots and Art wasn't real impressed with the food. We were told the tour lasted three hours.  It must have been Mexican time because it was really six hours.  What a fun day.  I was able to find a couple to give the extra certificate to.  They just arrived and the are on their honeymoon.

Today

There are a lot of folks here now so early this morning Art got up and went to the pool and saved us a couple of loungers by the warm pool.  After I got up, we went down to the pool.  I forgot to mention yesterday, we got a new bed.  I went to our room yesterday morning and they had the box springs in the hall and were in the process of carrying the old mattress out.  I had hopes the new bed would be better but it is really hard.  And to add insult to injury, I fell out of bed in the night. HA HA the marble floor and the bed feel about the same.
Anyway, back to today... Art wasn't feeling all that well so he went back to the room to rest and watch football.  I stayed at the pool.  I went for a walk on the beach, swam and played BINGO.  I even won.  You will never guess what my prize was........ another camel trip.  They said the prizes were camel trip, massage, glass bottom boat tour, and a bottle of tequila. I so wanted the massage. I think it was a made up prize because no one had it.  I was the only camel and everyone else said they had the glass bottom boat tour. It was really fun non-the-less. While I was lounging by the pool, there was a loud noise and then everyone started yelling "WHALE"  and the biggest whale popped up out of the ocean and started spraying water.  It was cool.  It was like he knew he was performing and gave us quite the show.  It was really something to behold.  One of the waiters told me there are 4 whales but I just saw the one.  The day went by really fast.  Art and I are pooped.  We both wish it was bedtime.  Maybe we will have to change the clocks around here so we can go to bed.   We have a big day tomorrow.

Our Platmates Had To Go Home

So sad for Dan and Shawna...they had to go back home today.  We hung out at the pool with them most of the morning. We ate lunch with them and shortly after lunch, they departed.

Art wasn't feeling 100% so we went to our room and he took at little nap and I sat on the deck. He felt much better after his rest so we went to the pool and swam awhile.

This morning when we went to the elevator someone wrote in the ashtray sand "Go Boise".  We thought it was cool. Then at breakfast a couple came up to us and said they saw Art's BSU shirt and hat and had to come say "hi". The guys was wearing a BSU T-shirt so I asked if they were from Boise and they said no they were from California but their son was going to BSU. Art told them about someone writing in the ashtray sand and they lady laughed and confessed it was her.

After dinner we were sitting in the lounge area and all of a sudden we could see fireworks.  They were pretty good. We could see the night show from our balcony.  We watched a little bit and decided football would be more fun.  Now we have decided watching the inside of our eyelids would be the best.

Today We ...........

Today we just hung around the pool.  The good news is my ear finally popped.  This afternoon it had been really crackly and I was hoping that meant it would pop soon and then I had the most intense pain ever....holy smokes Myrna.....  and then it popped. Ahhhhh.  and then I could hear again.

Shawna and I were sitting by the main pool dangling our feet contemplating getting in the cold water when a lady in the pool told Shawna that one of the side pools was warm.  We had been swimming in the cold pools all week.  We thought we would try it and she was right...it was warm.  We had a ball swimming.  We were in the pool so long the the guys came to check on us and decided to give it a try and got in. Art was so sweet, he brought me a drink and a fresh towel.  It is too bad we didn't know about the warm pool before today as Dan and Shawna go home tomorrow. There are three pools, a main pool and two side pools.  Everyday we lounged between the main pool and the one side pool never venturing over to the other side.  I know where I will be tomorrow.

Tonight we heard a bunch of sirens.  Our hotel is on the highway and tonight there was a really bad truck and car wreck.  Rumor is everyone was killed.  Pretty sad!!!

There is a band playing out at the pool tonight so I am listening (and yes rocking out) while I am writing this.  It is loud enough I can hear it in our room and we are on the fourth floor.  I am glad we like it or it would make it hard to go to sleep.

Rain.. Really

Can you believe it???  It rained this morning.  Made for a not so fun morning.  Actually, it was rainy but time wasn't too bad.  We hung out in our room for part of it.  I am reading a super fun book (thanks Mrs Dr for the suggetion) so the morning went by pretty fast.  I was super excited to go to town to shop.  After lunch we hopped on the city bus and went to town.  We went to a super high end mall so no shopping was to be had.  I got some super expensive drugs to try and unplug my ear.  It is still plugged and aches.  Now when I eat it crackles so maybe it will break loose soon.  We went to the night show tonight.  The first part was a fire show and was really good.  The sencond half went on and on and on and on and on and on and on.....you get the point.  It really wasn't good.  I had way to much sugar today,  so I have to be really good tomorrow.  It will be easy cause tomorrow is more lounging and reading. Hope the weather is good tomorrow.

HUH?

Well...... unfortunately my ear is still plugged.  It has become a real pain....literally.  I can't hear a thing out of it now and it hurts like a dirty one.  Art wonders if I might have an ear infection.  I am so hoping it will clear up, soon.

We just hung around the pool all day.  I took a nice nap.  Shawna and I attended a cooking class.  We left when they started on a recipe for raw sea bass. It was great with the guacamole and salsa but the sea bass?? no thanks.

After dinner we stopped by the outdoor bar for a night cap.  Art mentioned he would like to do casino night.  After sitting waiting around we all got tired and decided to turn in.  Art wanted to finish his drink first. Knowing my ear hurt, he decided to take it with him back to the room.  Well as luck would have it we stopped by the 21 table and played.  It was fun.  We weren't the winners of the table but the winner is leaving tomorrow so he couldn't use his prize.  He gave it to us,  You will never guess what the prize is.  Ready?  Ha ha for real it is a camel ride.  I am so stoked.  Art is not so much but I am. I always wanted to ride a camel and now here is my chance.  Pretty awesome if you ask me.

We made it

We got up freak show early. We were very lucky. ....the Buddy got up early as well and drove us to the airport.  All our flights were good. I sat next to an interesting gentleman on the flight to Pheonix. When he got on I thought "oh dear".  He was 62, bald with earrings, and a huge cigar hanging out of his mouth.  I was just sure the smell would give me a headache and make me sick. He looked at me and said "I look scary but I am not". So I responded back " I don't look scary but I am". He laughed and we hit it off. Thank Heavens his cigar didn't smell. He gave me his life history.

Customs was a piece of cake. I timed it..... It took us 1 1/2 minutes. That has to be a record. It helped we were the only plane.

The shuttle was waiting for us. It was fun seeing someone with a sign with our name on it.  We rode with a couple from Kansas City. The lady has a ton of relatives in Sedalia..... small world.

We like the hotel so far. It is really beautiful here.  We hooked up with Dan and Shawna.  Shawna got too much sun and isn't feeling well. She passed on dinner and went to bed.  I feel bad for her. Hopefully she will be better tomorrow.

I cheated a little on my diet. The Dr said it was ok.  It sure tasted good but not sure how good it made me feel.  Also, one of my ears is plugged. It would'nt be so bad but it really hurts. I sure hope it pops soon.

I am having lots of trouble with the internet here and I am super tired so I think I will join Art....... he is in bed snoring his heart out.  I am listening to a guy play his guitar and the ocean waves.  It is nice.  Night all.

The Anniversary Week Comes To A Close

Today was our last day. Boohoo! Our last big hoorah was shopping.  We drove to a huge outlet mall at the border.  I got new shoes and so did Art.  You cannot believe all the shoe stores this mall had.  We bought some fun stuff.  I got a new phone cover. I have been needing one for a while but couldn't find what I wanted with a price I was willing to pay until today.  I was pretty stoked.

We went to a quaint little Italian cafe for dinner.  It was so small it only seated 22 customers.  It was family owned.  They had really yummy bread.

We are packed and ready to head for home tomorrow.  It has been such a great week. What a way to celebrate 25 years.

Chips

What was today about?  Chips.......we drove to the Indian Casino. It is only an hours drive from here.  We played 21, poker and slots.  We played all afternoon.  We had the buffet there. It was so good.  We ate prime rib, lobster, shrimp, cabbage, sweet potatoes and a lot more but that's not all.......they has sugar free desserts.  I was so excited, i got to have dessert. And it was all free.  We signed up for the players club and the buffet was free.  We made up for it in gambling though.  Fun day.  It is hard to believe tomorrow is the last day here.  It has been so fun hanging out all week with my best buddy.

On the docket

Forgot to post this yesterday.........here it is

The weather is a tad cooler today.  Sooooooo Today we went sightseeing.  This area is really beautiful.  We drove the coastline.  Art thought it would be fun to drive the Coronado bridge.  Holy stroke.....I mean smokes Myrna.  It is sooooo high up.  I didn't enjoy it at all. I was ready to have stroke.   Glad it didn't bother Art at all. Then we went to see the  temple.  WOW!   It is incredibly beautiful.  It looks like a castle.  We walked around the grounds.  They were in the process of planting flowers.

Then we went across the road to a shopping center.  Yes I did get some new shoes.  A cute pair of Pumas. Art got a dash holder for his phone.  After that we drove up to Cabrillo Point.  Talk about million dollar views.  They have a little museum, theater, gift shop, and lighthouse. The lighthouse was cool.  It was set up like it was in the 1800s.

We had dinner at the Marina.  It reminded us both of the Marina in Seattle. Our waitress was a bit of a dipity do but that is part of the charm of it.......right?

We thought we were so clever

Today was a leisure day. We hung out all morning at the pool. We had a quick lunch at a restraunt by the condo.  It was fun hanging out.  The Buddy called to wish us a Happy Anniversary and asked what we were going to do tonight. We told him we were going to Red Lobster for dinner. His reply was precious.  He laughed and said "really?".  He said we could go there at home, we should go some place different but it was up to us.  He mentioned an area we could go that had some good places. We talked it over and agreed with him.  So we made reservations at a really nice restaurant in the area he told us about.   It was really fancy.  The wait staff all wore tuxedos.  We  thought we were so clever so we texted him from the restaurant.  The meal was delicious.  We enjoyed it immensly.  The waiter brought us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary and told us he had really good news for us and it was bigger then free dessert.   Art said oh my maybe you should sit down to tell us.  He said it was so big he had better and sat down.  Then he said your son called and paid the bill. Holy smokes Myrna!! He and MK picked up the bill for us.  It was so sweet and we were so surprised! We thought we were so clever but they were the clever ones. A big thanks to them!!   Now we are off to celebrate..........good night.

25 Years Ago Today

It is so hard to believe but 25 years ago today, I married my best friend. Art and I dated for 2 1/2 years.   In that time we became best friends.  I knew he always had my back and I had his.  Not only did he marry me but Mrs Doctor and The Buddy.  The four of us became a family. It has not been an easy ride for Art.  He has nursed me through many life long illness.  Always with a loving smile. He has been an awesome provider and protector.  There is no one I would rather share my life with.  He is the first person I think of to share every moment of my life.  He loves it when I relive stories and tell them to him........ Oh wait I love to relive stories and tell to him........he is not such a fan but he listens intently anyway. We have had a lot fun together. He makes me laugh and brings so much laughter and joy into my life. I really thought I loved him when we got married but compared to how much I love him now it wasn't much back then. Who knew you could love someone that much more. To him I say thanks for always loving me.  I love you Art!! Happy Anniversary!  Here is to the next 25.

Just a little funny from yesterday.............

While Art and I were in line to see one of the shows yesterday, we started chatting with a lady there with her three kids.  While we were visiting, I noticed her son (probably about 6 or 7) was looking at me with a puzzled look. Finally he said to his mom "why does she have gray hair?"   Hahahaha. I said because I stopped coloring and because I am old. He frowned and said to his mom " she doesn't look old."    Cute kid!

Great Day

What an awesome day!!  I had a rough night so Art thought maybe we should lay low today but I didn't want a day wasted because of me so we kept our plans.  We spent 12 hours at SeaWorld.  It was so much fun.   We walked our legs off.  I have a blister on each foot.  Art said his feet were wanting the can opener.  All the shows were excellent  but I have to say I enjoyed the Blue Horizon the best.  It had a little bit of everything.....dolphins, whales, birds, divers, acrobats.  We stayed until the bitter end. We were going to go home early but we just hung in there. The fireworks at the end were just splendid.  We watched Shamu rock the night.  I love watching all the dolphins. Art got a new hat and I got a new dolphin shirt and dolphin bag. We bought an insulated drink cup and we got free water fills.  That was nice because bottled water was $3.50.  The weather was just right.  Oh what a fun day....but I am ready for bed.

I Went To China..........almost

Today was a beautiful day. It rained last night and was a little overcast until about noon but then it was bright and sunny.  We had a leisurely morning. We decided to go on a harbor tour.  The tour was about two hours.  The first hour the tour there was about 500 people and it was about 98% Asian. We got on the boat and there was a guy from Colorado and a couple of other folks and us and everyone else was Asian.  They tour was nice but the people on the tour were the rudest people I have ever come across.  They would push and shove to get a picture, they would step on you.  I couldn't believe it.  We listened to everything in English and Mandarin. The guy who spoke Mandarin was super quiet and spoke really slow.   It reminded me of a women's conference I went to. Only at the conference we went to Jerusalem....almost.  this time we went to China......almost.  The second half of the tour there was probably 300 people and everyone' was pleasant and respectful of one another. Art and I both got sunburned.  I have a nice farmers tan and Art's face is pretty red.

After the tour we walked across the parking lot and toured the USS Midway. It was an aircraft carrier. All I can say is WOW!  It was so cool.  We were there for several hours.  I realized there is no way I could have gone out on a ship for 3-6 months at a time.  We had directions to help us find our way around, I am not sure how the navy guys found their way around.  The ship was huge. It took us hours to see all we could and we didn't go everywhere. But it was sure fun and all the volunteers were so knowledgeable  and nice.

We had lunch down on the harbor.  I ordered onion rings and um um they were so good.  The only downside was they gave me a bunch and I mean a bunch.  I felt bad I couldn't eat them all especially since they were soooooo good.

We did a lot of walking today. I think we will sleep good tonight.

Anniversary Week

Wowiewoo!!!  Today started the week long 25th anniversary week.  I have looked forward to this week for 25 years.  Art and I went to San Diego 8 months before we got married.  We had had so much fun and I knew after that he really was my best friend and I wanted him in my life forever.  I made him promise when we got married that for our 25th anniversary, we would go back and do all the fun things we did the first time...........and here we are.

The Buddy and Miss R picked us up bright and early to take us to the airport.  We first flew to Oakland and it was super cold.  I was so glad I had my hoodie with me.  Then on to San Diego.  It was chilly when we arrived.  Excuse me........what happened to sunny California?  The line at the rental car place was insanely long.  We were so happy that we were members and could be helped quickly.  While waiting our turn, we watched planes fly directly over us and it appeared like we could just reach up and touch them, oh and they were really really loud.  We got our big ol honkin car (it's a Crown Victoria)  and headed for our condo on the beach.

We figured out where the condo was but it wasn't quite time to check in so we went to Subway for lunch.  Then we checked to see if we could check in as it was about 20 minutes prior to check in but the key wasn't in the box so............we decided to go to Walmart and pick up some groceries.  They didn't have a very big selection of food items so we also went to the grocery store across the parking lot from Walmart.  Then we headed back to the condo. Success the key was available.  It is a great condo and I can sit on the couch in the living room and look at the beach and ocean.  We are right on the beach. My sister Trixie (I say that like I have more than one sister hahaha) would absolutely love this place.  Anyway it is a great place. We are really pleased with it. It is about 900 square feet and has two bedrooms and bathrooms.  The kitchen appliances are all new.

After getting all settled in we walked the beach and over to the boardwalk.  There was tons of people of all ages fishing off the boardwalk.

One of Art's favorite restaurants is the Black Angus. They closed the one back home some time ago.  As luck would have it......there is one here.  Glory be.  We went there for dinner.  Art loves loves loves the steak soup.  They have the best potato soup and garlic mashed potatoes. Those are my faves. In fact, my garlic mashed potatoes is their recipe.  As luck would have it, this stupid diet I am on prohibits the potatoes.  Curses curses curses. I am trying really hard to follow the diet.  I really want the diabetes to reverse and I really want the autoimmune hepatitis to go back into remission, so I have really followed the diet. (That is a whole other blog).  I told Art, I want to really enjoy this week so I am not going to worry about the diet this week but I just couldn't order the potatoes. Maybe as the week goes by I will fall off the diet wagon but it wasn't tonight.

Time to turn in.....it was an early morning and I need my rest.....we have some super fun things planned for this week........I am such a lucky girl.

New Little Nightstands

Well how fun is this.  Art didn't like what we were using for nightstands in the guest room.  He was 100% correct.  When we cleaned out the room he suggested we not return them to the room. They were awful  but it is what we had.  I decided to look around for something to replace them. I went all over.  I didn't want to spend a lot of money for something that would just be o.k.  I got online and  found the perfect little nightstands.  They match the headboard/footboard perfectly.  Thanks to Miss Five signing Art up to be a prime member with Amazon, shipping was free.

They came "assembly" required.  Poor Art is up to his eyeballs with remodel.  He said he would put them together after the remodel. And being the patient person I am, I decided to give it a try and put them together.  "Assembling" is not my forte in any way shape or form.  But.... I did it.  The look great.  Here is one of them.

And the addiction hits the skids

Well today I found I out amoung some other things I have prediebetes. Holy cow shut the door.  The good news is.....it is reversible.  The bad news is I have to give up my addiction of Dr Pepper.  So very sad!  I drink it because I love the taste.  As a true addict, I spent a couple hours justifying why I need to put off quiting. You know things like I just went to Costco and bought a couple cases...... I don't really have to quit I could just limit it to a couple times a week.  But the reality is I have to stop and make other lifestyle changes. I know I can quit.....heck I've done it lots of times.  Oh it is going to be a long couple of months dealing with the lifestyle changes.

Hey....imagine this.  A glass of ice.  The sound of a can popping open, and then the sound of it pouring over the ice.   Oh man an ice cold glass of Dr Pepper.

Yes it is going to be a long couple of months.

Move Forward

“If Life Gets Too Hard To Stand, Kneel.”

― Gordon B. Hinckley

“It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers.”
― Gordon B. Hinckley

I am always amazed that I am amazed. The past couple of weeks I have been presented with some changes and challenges.  It has been a rollercoater of emotions.  Although the changes are good they come with some big challenges.  As I struggled with my inadequacies, I often felt overwhelmed and unsure.  But as I was studying, and hoping to magically find a solution, I came across these quotes. The interesting thing about it, was I had been praying for help.  But when I read these quotes, I realized.... I am so not alone and Heavenly Father is aware of me and those around me and it will all work out the way he wants.  I just hope I don't get in his way.   Amazing how that works.  I sometimes I forget but amazingly enough I always get reminded.  So I will move forward with faith and do the very best I can.

Moving Along

Well things are moving right along with the remodel.  Art got the new bedroom all taped and textured.  We primed the walls and put the first coat of paint on and then on Friday, I put the second coat on.  It is getting close to moving in.  Just needs carpet, trim and crown molding.   The powder room is done and ready to be hooked up to water and sewer.

It is exciting to get so much done.  It will be really nice to get the mess and clutter all cleaned up.  I am so looking forward to getting everything cleaned up.  I think every room has been effected.  Clutter is everywhere.  I think Art strategically planned it this way.  I think he knew I would get so tired of all the mess, I would get rid of a lot of it just to get the clutter gone.  I don't want a lot of this stuff any more.  Very clever of Art, very clever indeed.

One a side note, I bought a new couch for the cabin.  We took it up this week and opened up the cabin. The cabin is looking good as well.  When we walked in, we both had the same comment......wow.  We had forgotten how much we got done last year.  We weren't sure if we were going to be able stay.  A part to the pump that works the well was bad.  With the pump not working properly, there was no water.  We tried to call a repairman but the phone lines in McCall were down.  After trying all day, I tried to call the phone company but that ended up a disaster.  The customer rep that I talked to could only follow his prepared script.  I told him I was in Cascade and was trying to call someone in McCall and asked if there was a problem with the lines in McCall because no matter what number I dialed I got a "All circuits are busy" message. He told me he could help me with my problem and that they had to wait until they get a bunch of calls before they send a repairman out to fix the problem.   They would wait until everyone in my neighborhood called.  Really, my neighborhood?  Did he not understand the part that I was in Cascade and was calling McCall?  He kept asking me what my account number was with them,  I tried several times to tell him I didn't have an account that I was just trying to find out if there was a problem with the phone lines in McCall since all numbers dialed had the same message. After several attempts to explain the problem to him and him reading me what was on his script,  I just thanked him and hung up. Art skillfully got the pump to work.  We were able to finally reach a repairman but because it was so late in the day, he couldn't come.  He did managed to make it later in the week and make the needed repairs.  Can't wait to go back up there.

Feelin the Love

Today, art and I drove to Reno.  It was a nice drive.  We stopped in Winnemucca for lunch.  I was stunned .....we went to KFC and it was really expensive. It was twice the amount it is at home.  Oh well.  We stopped for a bathroom break and holy smokes.  Yes I have a phobia when it comes to outside gas station bathrooms but I think I would have rather found a place to squat.  Let me say it was........ Disgusting.  I put two bum gaskets on the seat and still didn't want to sit on it. Art said the men's room was as bad.

The hotel room is dated but it is huge and clean.  We have a nice view.

We played 21 until dinner.  It was fun.  There is always a new twist.  Now you can bet on the dealers top card.  for a while we were making a killing on that bet.  hahaha but nothing  lasts  forever. One of the gentlemen I was playing with wanted me to make some crazy bet so he gave me money to do it.  It worked, I made $10 off of his $5. After dinner, I just felt like we needed to pay 3 card poker.  I just felt the love.  I was right. I got dealt three of a kind.  Woohoo!!  Then a little bit later Art was dealt three of a kind too.  Crazy!!!!  They aren't very common.  Hope we feel more love tomorrow.

Progress is being made

Progress continues everyday.  Today I painted the powder room.  It is now ready for flooring.  It is getting closer to being done.  I need to find something cute to hang on the walls to spark it up.  I am not sure yet what I am going to do.  Art suggested (jokingly) I put the following on the wall.

Hear I sit broken hearted
I tried to poop
but I only farted.

It is funny but uuuummmm no.

I'll keep ya all posted on what I end up doing.

Another Room Bites the Dust

To quote the words from a Queen song.

Dah..... Dah..... Dah.... Another one bites the dust
Dah..... Dah..... Dah.... Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust.

Another room is gone.  Art took the laundry room to the dump today.  Yep he ripped out the walls and loaded them into the truck and delivered them to the dump. Most of the demolition is done.  I think the the master bath is about the only room left to completely destroy.

We got plumbing parts today.  The guy at the store was really helpful.  Art was reenergized.  I am excited he is excited.  Art also got the bedroom door framed.  It really looks different.

I filled the hot tub back up today....I think Art is going to need it.  He has been working really hard.

What's Up

The remodel is making lot of progress.  Art has really worked hard.  The new bedroom is about 80% done.  Art has the wiring done, most of the framing, insulation, and sheetrock done. To help the process, Art brought his air compressor in.  It is strange to walk in his office and see the compressor sitting there.

He took a little break this afternoon.  We ran some errands and bought new shoes.  We both got a couple pair. I have been wanting some new navy blue shoes.  They are really hard to find.  I wanted some with the wedge heel.  One of the stores here had some but I just refused to pay the price they wanted.  Art said he didn't care what the cost was, he was tired of going to every store looking so we went back to the one store an got them.  They are pretty cute!!  One good thing about it .......Art always says time stands still when we go shoe shopping.  He thinks it lasts forever and today he thanked me for making this day last forever.

Here are some pictures.

It's Gone

For the past 23 1/2 years, I have showered in the same bathtub/shower.  Yesterday was the last.  Knowing it was my last, I was determined to take a little longer and soak up the memory of it.  Standing in the shower I reflected on the years past.  So many memories flooded my mind, both good and bad.  In a strange way, I almost mourned some of the changes in life while wanting to re-celebrate others.  Then all of a sudden without any warning the water stopped flowing.  I was about to holler for Art when the water returned as quickly as it stopped.  I started once again to reflect and the water stopped again. Dang it!  With no water, I couldn't finish my shower and visit down memory lane. Never again would I be able to shower in the bathtub/shower again. But it occurred to me,  I need to honor the past but not dwell in.  The past was done and couldn't be relived but the future held brightness and hope of better things so I need to live my life now so that my future would be bright. It was time to move forward.

With that thought in mind, I eagerly cleaned out the bathroom. I knew that the new bathroom would be so much better.  The Buddy came over and with his help Art gutted the bathroom. The bathtub/shower, vanity, toilet, and the walls all gone.  The main bathroom is completely gone.  Today, I showered for the very first time in the basement.  I kinda felt like a guest.

Art also got the new on demand water heater installed.  It works really well. He removed the ceiling in the laundry room.  He had to do that to get to the plumbing for the new bathrooms upstairs.  The upside to that and the new water heater is the laundry room will get a makeover as well.  It is so crazy how one thing leads to another........but so far ......I am loving it.

It All Depends On Which Direction You Are Going

I had a doctor appointment today.  I arrived at the the Dr office about 5 minutes prior to my appointment time.  I learned sometime ago not to be early at this office.  You wait at least 30 minutes in the waiting room no matter what.  Anyway, I got there to find a notice that they had moved.  WHAT?!  I had no idea.  I had not received any notice and when they called to confirm my appointment they didn't say anything.  So I called their office to tell them I was at the old office so I would need to reschedule.  I was told to come anyway.  So I said I knew the address and repeated it and then asked where they were exactly.  She gave me the address again.  So I asked her again exactly where that was and she told me the two streets they were between. Ah ha.  I asked what they were by and she said "them" and said again the streets that they were between.  Then I asked "are you on the east or west side of the street" and she said "Well, it depends on which direction you are going."  Really????  I thought east west north and south were set.  hmmmmm.... guess not......it all depends on the direction I am going.  And with that conversation my direction went south.  I did find the office and when it was all said and done,  I was only 10 minutes late and the two appointments ahead of me were still waiting in the waiting room.  Yes... I waited 30 minutes so it was just like being on time.

The Closet Has Arrived

More work today was done on the remodel.  Art took 1100 pounds of closet and walls to the dump today.  He also removed some of the ceiling today.  He has a love hate relationship with the rock wool insulation in the attic.  He hates it when it falls on his head and loves to see it gone.

The highlight of the day was 1100 pounds of new closet arrived today.  Now listen,  I am not prejudice against older folks really I am not.  But I will say when you reach a certain age,  you should be able take it easy and let younger folks do the heavy work.  Today the truck carrying our new closet components drove up and Art went out with the intent to show the guys where to put the items.  I looked out to see Art helping unload the truck.  Surprised, I stood there a sec and saw an old guy pop out of the truck and then an other old guy popped out.   I thought the young guys (20s or 30s) must be inside so I stood there a few more seconds and realized these guys were it.  The one guy looked to be about 70 to me.   Art said he thought both guys were in their 60s.  I am not so sure the guy wasn't in his 70s. Anyway, Art was the youngest one out there so Art thought he better help them unload. And it was a good thing......they needed a "younger" guy to help them.   Here is a picture of the unload.

The fun has begun

Several years ago I came up with an idea to expand the bedroom and create a walk-in closet.  Art was not too thrilled with the thought but after years of talking about it (OK nagging about it)  it became a possibility and now it is becoming a reality.  I am so thrilled I can't stand myself. Art not only agreed to it, he drew up plans.  His plan is much better than the one I came up with.  I was still a little skeptical with the whole thing happening but then.....then we started purchasing items for it.  Oh my gosh it really was coming to be. I guess it is true never say never.

We are turning Art's old office into a new master bedroom.  To make it big enough we have to remove the closet from spare bedroom.  The spare room will become Art's new office. The old master will be an awesome walk-in closet and part of a new ensuite.  The main bathroom will become a powder room to make room for the rest of the ensuite.  Oh it is going to be awesome!  I am so excited and nervous all at the same time.  I am such a lucky lady.  Art has the talent and the ability to do it all.  Thank you so much Art for making this a reality.

Now the fun has begun.  We got started on the remodel.  Yesterday we emptied out the rooms and closets.  The family room in the basement has become a storage unit.  We won't be able to use it until we are done.

Art spent today removing walls.  It looks so different.  It is shocking to see it. He worked so hard today.  My job was staying out of the way and then helped with some clean up.  Here are some pictures.
