We Have Some Place To Go

But the fire is so delightfulAnd since we've no place to goLet it snow! Let it snow! Let it …..wait We do have some place to go.

We got up at 3:30 this morning and it was snowing and had snowed all night.  We hurried and got really and carefully headed to the airport.  And as the songs continues … it doesn’t show signs of stopping and it didn’t.

We got on the plane ok but there we sat.  And sat we did for 2 hours.  The plane was de-iced three times.  The pilot informed us because the weather had gotten worse, ground control couldn’t keep up.  They closed two of the runways and were fast and furiously plowing one for all the planes to take off.  We patiently waited our turn and when we got ready to take off they had to plow the runway again.  We figured at that point we would miss our connecting flight and would have to reschedule it. But I was totally at peace with it all. Surprising I know.  But….as luck would have it we finally took off and the pilot made up over an hour of time in the air.  Oh bless him!!!  The pilots were great but the flight attendants shall we say were nonattendants.  They couldn’t have done less if they were in a coma. The plane was old and a lot of issues.  Apparently there was no water so you couldn’t wash your hands after using the restroom.  (I had wet wipes I could use) And they couldn’t make coffee. When someone would ask the one attendant a question she would roll her eyes at them when they walked away. I think she needs to find a new career.  But we survived and none of the doors flew open so I call it a win.

We made our connection with 15 minutes to spare.  Yeehaw!   We got a Mazda for a rental car.  The rental car lady told Art where the car was located and told him he would know it was the right one if the gas door was missing.  And it is definitely missing. But it is a good car.

We stopped and picked up a few breakfast items for tomorrow.  We got to the condo without any issues.  It is right on the beach.  The condo is a nice two bedroom on the 4th floor.  It has a nice balcony.  The internet doesn’t work but we’ll get it fixed tomorrow.

After getting settled and unpacked, we went to a local burger joint.  The food was great and the service was even better.  Then off to a hotel to listen to a local guitarist perform.  We didn’t know what to expect but thought we would give it a try.  So glad we did.  The guy played his guitar and sang.  He was really good and we had a great time.  I think if we weren't so tired from a long day and getting up so early, we would have stayed a little longer.

Tomorrow we are going to take the shuttle around the island to check it out.  I am excited to see the island.

Just a little side note: 38 years ago today…. Art and I met.  Man where does the time go? Happiest of Anniversaries to the amazing Art!
