Hey You Want a Peanut

I think I am going to have to give up peanut eating. There was the problem with salmonella and now this. A friend shared this with me.

A tour bus driver is driving with a bus load of seniors down a highway when he is tapped on his shoulder by a little old lady.

She offers him a handful of peanuts, which he gratefully munches up.
After about 15 minutes, she taps him on his shoulder again and she hands him another handful of peanuts.

She repeats this gesture about five more times.
When she is about to hand him another batch again he asks the little old lady, 'Why don't you eat the peanuts yourself?'.

'We can't chew them because we've no teeth', she replied.

The puzzled driver asks, 'Why do you buy them then?'

The old lady replied, 'We just love the chocolate around them.'

Uh….. want a peanut?

Done Enough

Well my visitor's room is done enough. Those who saw it in real life not just photos have agreed it is nothing I would have ever picked. I like it more each day. You can't tell from the photo but my neighbor put in a rock stairway in her yard and my window frames it perfectly and looks really cool. It just needs visitors now. The room is so small I really couldn't take very good photos and yes that is the excuse I am sticking with. Anyway here are the photos.

Turning 50

A few months ago my friend Shawna reached a milestone. She turned 50. She was a real trooper. We made her wear a tiara to dinner announcing she was 50. We teased her every chance we got and she played along. Now that she is 50 she can now look forward to singing these songs.

Herman’s Hermits— Mrs.Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Walker.

Ringo Starr— I Get By With a Little Help From Depends.

The Bee Gees— How Can You Mend a Broken Hip.

Bobby Darin— Splish, Splash, I Was Havin’ a Flash.

Roberta Flack— The First Time Ever I Forgot Your Face.

Johnny Nash— I Can’t See Clearly Now.

Paul Simon— Fifty Ways to Lose Your Liver

The Commodores–Â Once, Twice, Three Times to the Bathroom.

Marvin Gaye— Heard It Through the Grape Nuts.

Procol Harem— A Whiter Shade of Hair.

Leo Sayer— You Make Me Feel Like Napping.

The Temptations— Papa’s Got a Kidney Stone.

Abba— Denture Queen.

Helen Reddy— I Am Woman, Hear Me Snore.

Leslie Gore— It’s My Procedure, and I’ll Cry If I Want To.

As for me.....well I'm still singing a different tune.

Stepping Out

Oh dear I am stepping out of my comfort zone. I decided to redo my guest room or as princess calls it the visitor's room. I hope it turns out. A couple of weeks ago I found the perfect and I mean perfect comforter. It was tan with pink flowers and lots of greenery. Well after buying it I had buyers remorse so bad it didn't even make it home with me. SO I have been looking for something ever since. It would be much easier if I wasn't so cheap. Anyway I decided to bag the flowery look and go for a more masculine look. I found a comforter and curtains. It is nothing I would have ever given a second look to before. Yikes. I will post a pic when it is all put together. Oh I do hope it turns out!!!! Otherwise I will have to step back in my comfortable zone.

A Little Powder and Paint To Make Ya What Ya Aint

When I was growing up my mom had two sayings about grooming.

"Even an old barn needs paint" and "A Little Powder and Paint To Make Ya What Ya Aint"

Yes it is true I bought in to those theories.....mostly cause in my case it is true. But the interesting thing about it has been my three granddaughters. All three are cute as could be and beautiful. They are neither an old barn or in need of a little powder or paint. Their moms are beautiful as well and don't wear much makeup if any at all. On different occasions the granddaughters have watched me put on my makeup and wanted to share. I tell them all they are so beautiful they don't need it but then I pretend to apply it and they are very satisfied. They have such a watchful eye on how it is done. I have now observed them all opening my makeup bag on their own and applying it just the way they saw grandma do it. It is very funny to watch them. And the best (or the saddest) part is I know they are doing it exactly like me down to the crazy faces and the swirl and tap of the brushes. With luck, when they are old they will think back of me and my little makeup bag and they will remember how fun it was to play with the old ladies makeup. They won't need any powder and paint because for them the theory will be "ya can't improve on perfection.". As for me even an old barn needs paint and as I apply the paint each day, I will fondly remember each of them playing with it.

Resolutions or Goals

This time of year there a lot of talk of resolutions. I have never thought of myself as a resolution maker. But as I sat down today and reviewed my goal status it occurred to me, setting goals is a lot like making resolutions. Hmmmm. I guess I do make resolutions, I just call them goals and I don't wait for the new year to do it.

My Green Coat

About 20 years ago I bought a nice coat. It was a green dress coat and I loved it. I even found a hat to match. I just felt good when I put it on and I always received lots of compliments when I wore it. I had a scare with it. When Mrs. Dr was going to BSU I was taking her to class and we were in a car accident. A drunk driver hit a car two cars behind us and they hit the car in front of them and they in return hit us. We were both O.K. so I got out to assess the situation and the car that hit us had a huge screw sticking out and I didn't see it but it found it's way to my coat and OH NO it tore my coat. I was so upset. All I could think about was my beautiful coat. Art thought I was crazy because my coat was my worry. He told me forget the coat, what about the expensive car. How could I even think about the car..........my coat was torn. When the insurance adjuster called I told him how upset I was about my coat. I made sure he knew how serious the situation was. Again, Art said wait what about the car.......again how could I even think about the car..........my coat was torn. The insurance man said they would fix the damage to the car and when I asked about my coat he said he would replace it. He said he had never had anyone that upset over an article of clothing so it must have been very valuable and he would gladly replace it. Which he did and I still have the replacement coat. It is nice but not my green coat. I just couldn't bring myself to get rid of the coat and it was a good thing. I had it out looking at it one day and it came to me.....I would have it altered to be a short coat. Off to the Taylor I went. Oh I once again could wear my coat. I must mention I had to replace the buttons three times over the years. But with much sadness I must now report the coat is old and tired. It needs more than just the buttons replaced, it has been well worn. Art and I cleaned closets today and it was time to say goodbye to my beloved coat. I am not a good purger. I am however a very good hoarder. I wanted to pack the coat away far in the back of the closet. That way I could get it out and reminisce of when I wore it. But Art told me it was time to let it go. He offered to sneak it out while I wasn't watching but instead with tears in my eyes I handed it over and looked away as he took it away. Never have I been so attached to a coat. (well maybe my mom's fur coat but that will never ever go away. EVER)

When I told the Buddy that I got rid of the coat today with joy in his voice he asked if I got rid of the hat as well...........hmmm I suspect he wasn't the fan I was.
