What a great weekend. On the fourth we had a little BBQ. Brent, Marykate, Miss R, Art’s dad, brother and his family came. Art BBQed hamburgers on the grill. I was worried it might be too hot (for Art) but it turned out fine. After everyone left Art and I jumped in the car and drove to Eagle Island State Park to watch fireworks. It was a new experience for us. In 20 years of marriage we have never attended the fireworks together here. We have in Cascade and in Placerville but never here. We had not been to Eagle Island since the kids were little. We used to take them there to go swimming. It was fun sitting there reminiscing about all the fun we had with the kids. We got a great spot. There were a lot of folks there. We sat in the general area of the speaker so we enjoyed listening to music before the fireworks started. We watched the kid direct cars to their parking spot and that in itself was entertaining. The fireworks were great. Before they started shooting them off they told the story of Frances Scott Key and what the Star Spangle Banner was about. I had heard the story before but it was a good refresher and the man telling the story was a good storyteller. It really put us in the mood for fireworks. We thought we would be forever getting out of the park with all the traffic but boy did they know what they were doing. We drove right out with no delays. We were more impressed but that then anything.
Then Saturday we spent the day as usual (auction, lunch, errands). When Art came home he suggested we go to a movie. Wooohoo, a date with Art. Jackpot! We went to dinner and hurried to the movie theater. We got there just in time for the upcoming previews. We saw WALL-E. It was cute. Not a lot of dialog. I think they only spoke about 50 words the whole movie. We aren’t movie goes as a general rule but it was sure fun.
